Degree students

Are you officially an admitted student? These are the main steps you should take once you have received your letter of admission, and before your arrival:

Visa students

Apply for the Long term visa for a stay of over 90 days. Detailed information regarding the application procedure are disposable on the website of the Czech ministry of Interior.

Information on the visa procedure can also be found on the website of the Czech Embassy in the country of which you are a citizen.

Do not postpone the application for a visa, the visa procedure takes approximately 60 days from the date of submitting the demand at the Embassy.

Health Insurance

You need to arrange health insurance for the period of stay in the Czech Republic.

Visa students  are obliged to submit a proof of medical travel insurance along with the visa application.

Accommodation

The university provides accommodation on dormitories, registration information and fees can be found on the Management of Dormitories and Canteens.

You can find accommodation in private too.

Student card – JIS card

A JIS card is a student´s identification card at UWB. To receive the JIS card you must fill in the e-application and pay the fee as instructed – you can do it before arrival.

Check-in at the dorms

You will sign the accommodation contract with the head of the dormitory at the reception of the university dormitory. The refundable deposit and an approximate payment for the first month should have already been paid before your binding reservation.

Register your place of residence

 You will register at the Foreign Police – Department of Residence Agenda (stay on a long-term visa) or at the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy (stay on a long-term residence permit) within 3 days after your arrival to the Czech Republic.

You will submit there: health insurance contract, passport, accommodation contract (eventually a copy of the confirmation of accommodation).

Enrolment for Study

You will be enrolled to study at UWB. The date of enrolment is determined by the faculty you will study.

Picking up the JIS card

You will get JIS card and Orion account details (for internet access) at the HelpDesk.

Covid - 19

Lectures:   Lectures of the summer semester 2021/22 are supposed to start as usual, that means contact classes from the 14th February 2022. However, we have to respect current government regulations. If contact classes are forbidden by the government decision, we will have to switch to online classes

Faculty of Law: only online classes from the 14th February 2022!

Physical arrival: exchange students are supposed to come to Pilsen around 6th February 2022 (if the isolation is required for some countries, those students will be required to come earlier to be able to finish their isolation before the beginning of classes)

Accommodation at the dormitories: the student will be required to prove one of these:
- full vaccination (at least 14 days after the second dose) or a booster
- negative PCR test (not older than 72 hours) or antigen test (not older than 48 hours)
- that they have recovered from Covid-19 in the last 180 days

May change according to current government´measures valid on the day of student´arrival!

Not vaccinated accommodated students: MUST prove Covid test (antigen or PCR) every 7 days and upoload the result to ISKAM web each week!

Covid tests / vaccination: we recommend to all incoming exchange students to be fully vaccinated (finished vaccination process) before coming to Pilsen. Otherwise, you might be required to show negative Covid test each time you enter the university campus, the dormitory, maybe even restaurants, cinemas etc. according to valid government regulations. The price of PCR test is around 1000,-CZK / antigen test around 500,-CZK (exchange students are always self-payers!!!)
